Almost 1 out of every 4 drivers in Oklahoma does not have car insurance, according to the Insurance Research Council. The IRC uses statistics to rank the 10 states with the highest percentage of drivers driving without insurance.
State laws require Oklahoma drivers to carry minimum liability car insurance. Despite this, researchers estimate that 23.9 percent of drivers in Oklahoma do not carry any amount of auto insurance.
Statistics used in the most recent ranking are from 2009 — the 5th consecutive year that Oklahoma has been on the list of top 10 states with uninsured drivers.
Drivers who are involved in accidents with uninsured drivers can still receive financial recovery for damages and injuries with the help of an experienced attorney. Contact the Oklahoma insurance dispute attorneys of Abel Law Firm at 405-239-7046 to learn more about your rights.
