1 killed, another hurt in pursuit-turned-collision in Midwest City

MIDWEST CITY, OK – One person was killed and another was injured in a pursuit-turned-collision that occurred on Monday night.
According to KOCO, the events unfolded after 8 p.m. at a Dollar General store in Harrah. There, a 49-year-old man had allegedly hit a woman with a pipe and then stole her silver Nissan sedan.
Oklahoma County law enforcement was notified of the assault and of the stolen vehicle. After 20 minutes, the suspect, a 49-year-old man, was seen driving on Sooner Road.
The Midwest City police officer tried to pull over the suspect, but he did not listen, prompting a pursuit.
The officer conducted a PIT (Precision Immobilization Technique) maneuver, which was on Southeast 15th Street. The suspect lost control of the stolen vehicle and collided with another vehicle.
The suspect died from his injuries at the crash scene. He was identified as Brice Lajuan Edwards.
The other driver, who was not involved in the pursuit, sustained minor injuries.
The officer who conducted the PIT maneuver has been placed on paid administrative leave.
