GUYMON, OK – Two Guymon firefighters had to go to the hospital after their fire engine truck crashed and overturned on Highway 136 last Thursday, May 14.
According to OKCFOX, the incident unfolded before 4:30 p.m. The firefighters were on their way to respond to a grass fire caused by lightning in Kansas, prior to the crash. As they drove, their front right tire went over the right shoulder of the highway. They overcorrected, which caused the truck to overturn and flip over in the east ditch.
The firefighters were able to free themselves from the overturned truck and call 911 for help.
Medics transported them to the hospital for treatment. One firefighter suffered serious chest and back injuries and remained at the hospital, while another was treated for minor injuries and released a short time later.
OHP is investigating the details behind the collision.
