2 Injured in I-44 Semi Crash

Two people were injured after their car was struck by a semi-truck on Interstate 44 early Tuesday morning.

According to officials with the Oklahoma Highway PAtrol, the accident occurred on Interstate 44 near the Yale exit. Troopers say the driver of the tractor-trailer was attempting to navigate a lane change and the car was in the driver’s blind spotl.

A second semi-truck that was following close behind the two vehicles was unable to avoid the wreckage ahead of him and struck the rear of the first tractor-trailer.
Police say neither truck driver was injured in the crash.

According to preliminary reports from the Tulsa Police Department, four people in another vehicle escaped injury after their car ran up onto the interstate median and lost a wheel.

The two people in the first car were transported by ambulance to a Tulsa area hospital following the crash.

Police did not release details on the nature or extent of the victims injuries.
