47-year-old woman’s life claimed in two-vehicle collision near Newkirk

NEAR NEWKIRK, OK – A 47-year-old woman’s life was claimed in a two-vehicle collision west of Newkirk last Thursday, May 7, News9 reports.
The incident unfolded before 8:45 a.m. at the intersection of North Waverly Street and West Earth Road. Oklahoma Highway Patrol determined that one driver was traveling south on North Waverly Street when they went through the intersection and collided with another vehicle going west on West Earth Road.
The southbound vehicle overturned a quarter before it, and the westbound vehicle came to rest.
A short time later, the driver of the westbound vehicle succumbed to her injuries. She has since been identified as Newkirk resident, Eugenia Ladawn Sester.
OHP confirmed the driver of the southbound vehicle, a 34-year-old man, was uninjured. OHP did not specify whether he ran a stop sign, a traffic light, or had the right of way when his vehicle collided with Sester’s.
A full investigation is underway.
