THACKERVILLE, TX – According to ABC News, several passengers on a train were injured after it crashed through a semi-truck hauling vehicles at Hwy 77 and Addington Bend Rd on Friday.

The incident happened around 7 p.m. when the semi-truck got stuck due to the elevation of the train tracks and the weight of it’s load.

A bystander who was in a vehicle behind the semi-truck caught the incident on film. Footage shows Amtrak Train 822, which goes from Fort Worth, Texas to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, barreling through the trailer, sending debris and an SUV flying across the roadway.

The bystander called 911, who then contacted the railroad network operator. Unfortunately, the train could not be stopped in time.

According to the police, the semi-truck driver was “shaken up” but otherwise uninjured in the collision. Of the 110 passengers and crew members onboard the train, five people were hospitalized at hospitals in the area with non-life-threatening injuries. All patients have been treated and released.

Local and state authorities are investigating the accident.
