GLENPOOL, OK – A child died, and several other people were hurt Monday in a five-vehicle collision along the highway in southwest Tulsa County, reports News 9.
The accident occurred sometime in the morning along Highway 67 near South Fern Street in southeast Glenpool, which is about 17 miles south of Tulsa.
Police say that a westbound vehicle collided with several eastbound vehicles after swerving into oncoming traffic to avoid hitting an 18-wheeler.
A 9-year-old in one of the vehicles sustained fatal injuries.
Medics transported several other people to area hospitals with serious injuries.
Officials closed the eastbound side of Highway 67 for multiple hours while emergency teams gathered evidence, assisted the victims, and worked to clear the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
