OKLAHOMA COUNTY, OK — A 19-year-old man was hospitalized Monday morning after a major crash involving a semi-trailer on Interstate 35 in Edmond, according to KOCO.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers said the collision occurred near East Memorial Road shortly after 7:30 a.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates the young man was driving at a high rate of speed when he veered into another lane. Moments later, a semi-trailer rear-ended his car.
The impact of the crash caused the car to become wedged under the 18-wheeler. Officials said the car was dragged over a span of the highway before the semi came to a stop on a shoulder.
The young man, who suffered a broken collarbone and multiple cuts and bruises, was transported to a local hospital but has since been released. He is expected to make a recovery.
