Pickup loses tire on I-235, causing fatal 2-vehicle crash

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – One person died early Wednesday morning when their vehicle struck a disabled pickup truck on the southbound side of the interstate in Oklahoma City, reports News 9.
Police say the incident happened around 2:20 a.m. on the Broadway Extension of I-235 near West Britton Road, which is in the North Highland area of the city.
The investigation thus far indicates that a black pickup truck lost a tire while headed north on I-235. The truck crashed into the retaining wall, fell over it, and landed on the southbound side of the interstate. A southbound vehicle then collided with the pickup truck.
The driver of the southbound vehicle died at the scene of the accident. Authorities have not yet identified this person.
It is unclear at this time if the driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene of the collision. A full investigation is underway.
