Driver airlifted after single-vehicle DUI crash in Ponca City

PONCA CITY, OK – Medics airlifted a driver Monday morning after their vehicle crashed at a busy intersection in Ponca City, reports KTUL 8.
The incident happened just before 5 a.m. in the area of North 14th Street and East Hartford Avenue, which is just southeast of Alliance Health Ponca City.
The investigation thus far indicates that the victim’s vehicle overturned multiple times after striking a curb and leaving the roadway. The force of the collision threw the driver from the vehicle.
The driver was transported to Saint Francis in Tulsa with undisclosed injuries.
One of two dogs riding in the vehicle died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Police think the driver may have been intoxicated at the time of the accident. A full investigation is underway.
