OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – A child died Sunday after a pickup truck crashed along the interstate in northeast Oklahoma City, reports News 9.
The accident happened in the afternoon on I-35 just south of Northeast 10th Street, which is just east of Fredrick Douglass Park.
Police say that the driver of a northbound pickup truck carrying four passengers lost control of the vehicle after falling asleep. The truck struck a concrete barrier, which caused one of three children to be thrown from the vehicle and onto the southbound side of I-35. A southbound vehicle then struck the three-year-old child.
Officials say there were two other children in the pickup truck at the time of the crash as well as an adult passenger.
No other injuries have been reported thus far.
The investigation is ongoing.
