LAWTON, OK – An elderly man died Monday morning after a two-vehicle crash at an intersection just southwest of Lawton, reports Texoma’s Homepage.
The incident happened just before 8:30 a.m. at Southwest 97th Street and Southwest Coombs Road, which is northeast of Pecan Cemetery.
Police say that a northbound 2001 Toyota 4Runner crashed into an eastbound 2016 Mazda 3 when the driver of the Toyota failed to heed a stop sign at the intersection.
Bystanders helped to free the unrestrained driver of the Toyota, identified as 79-year-old Jimmy Roach, after he became pinned in the vehicle. Roach later died after transport to a local hospital.
Medics transported one adult and one child from the Mazda to the hospital with non-critical injuries.
A full investigation is underway.
