OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – A pedestrian died Thursday when a vehicle struck them near the Rockwell Plaza Shopping Center in northwest Oklahoma City, reports KFOR News 4.

The accident happened at night in the area of Northwest Expressway and North Rockwell Avenue, which is just north of Wiley Post Airport – PWA.

Authorities haven’t yet identified the victim, who they say was crossing the road when a wrong-way driver hit them. It’s unclear if the pedestrian was using a designated crosswalk at the time of the crash.

Police haven’t shared any information about the driver, but they’ve not referred to the collision as a hit-and-run.

Motorists likely encountered delays in the area of the crash while crews worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
