Man struck, killed on OK-112 at 290th St in Poteau

POTEAU, OK – A 63-year-old man sustained fatal injuries Thursday when a vehicle struck him along the highway in north-central Le Flore County, reports Fox 23 News.

The accident happened shortly after 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of OK-112 and 290th Street, or River Bend Road. This is on the north side of Poteau.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the driver involved in the crash failed to heed a stop sign and hit a man crossing the highway at 290th Street.

The pedestrian died at the scene of the crash. Authorities identified him as William E. McGuire of Poteau.

The driver in the accident, identified as 64-year-old Gene V. Bock, went to the hospital with undisclosed injuries. Bock has since been released. It is unclear if he will face charges in connection to the crash.

A full investigation is underway.
