Fatality reported in auto-ped crash at SW 12th and Portland

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Police and medics responded to a fatal pedestrian accident on the west side of Oklahoma City Thursday morning, reports KOCO News 5.

The incident occurred just prior to 6:30 a.m. at Southwest 12th Street and South Portland Avenue, which is just west of I-44 and north of the Oklahoma River.

Police say that for unknown reasons, a pedestrian was walking in the middle of the roadway when it was still dark outside and raining. The driver of a Waste Management truck did not see the pedestrian and struck them.

The pedestrian succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name to the public.

The driver of the truck stopped to render aid and speak with police.

A full investigation is underway.
