Fiery crash near 71st and Canton in S Tulsa kills motorcyclist

TULSA, OK – Tulsa Police are investigating a collision that claimed the life of a 23-year-old motorcyclist on Wednesday afternoon, reports KTUL News Channel 8.
Shortly before 5 p.m., emergency crews responded to a major accident in the area of East 71st Street and South Canton Avenue, which is just south of St. Francis Hospital.
Police say that a motorcycle struck a passenger vehicle while trying to avoid hitting another vehicle. The impact of the crash ejected the rider, who landed beneath a third vehicle. The motorcycle then ignited.
The motorcyclist, identified as Ashton Meyer, died after transport to an area hospital.
It’s unclear if either of the other two drivers required medical attention. Officials described their injuries as non-life-threatening.
Authorities say that Meyer was driving recklessly at the time of the collision.
A full investigation is underway.
