Car, 18-wheeler collide on US-59 near Sequoayah, killing 1

SALLISAW, OK – One person sustained fatal injuries Monday in a two-vehicle collision involving a semi along the highway in central Sequoyah County, reports KNWA.
Shortly after 8:30 a.m., emergency crews responded to US-59, or North Wheeler Avenue, near Sequoyah Avenue on the north side of Sallisaw, which is approximately 95 miles southeast of Tulsa.
Police haven’t yet determined the cause of the accident or the manner in which the car and the 18-wheeler impacted.
The driver of the car succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Authorities will release the victim’s name when family have been notified.
The driver of the semi-truck did not sustain injuries in the accident.
The collision likely caused delays along US-59 while emergency teams gathered evidence and worked at the scene.
