STRINGTOWN, OK – An 18-year-old woman, a Stringtown local, died as a result of a crash on Highway 69, said to have been caused by a box truck driver on Sunday.
The incident happened before 12:45 p.m. The 18-year-old, later identified as 18-year-old Bailee Rennae Deems, was driving a Mazda CX-3 when she was struck by a box truck, according to KTEN.
The force of the collision caused Demms to lose control of her car, go past the center divider, and into the northbound lanes.
Deems was pinned or entrapped inside her car and required extrication by the Stringtown Volunteer Fire Department.
Fire crews extricated Deems by using Jaws of Life. Atoka County EMS rushed her to Atoka County Medical Center, where she later died.
It’s unclear if the box truck driver was injured. Stringtown Police have not said if the driver was cited.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol started an investigation.
