Man, 70, dead after car crashes into tree in Monkey Island

MONKEY ISLAND, OK – A 70-year-old man died after he crashed his car into a tree around 7 a.m. on Tuesday in Monkey Island, KSN16 reports.
The incident unfolded when the 70-year-old man, who was driving north on Highway 125, drifted off the road and plowed into a tree. This single-car crash occurred during heavy rain, which could have been a contributing factor, along with several other crashes in the area, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol noted.
OHP confirmed the 70-year-old male driver wore his seatbelt, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. Authorities have since identified him as Stephen Pelcher, from Afton.
Officials notified Pelcher’s family and reported no other occupants were involved in this single-car crash.
