MOORE, OK – An unlicensed driver failed to yield to and collided with a motorcyclist Monday, News 9 reports.
Gray Mize was operating a motorcycle on southbound Santa Fe Ave as Daniel Lara, 21, attempted to turn onto Southwest 144th St. The two collided, sending Mize through Lara’s windshield. Mize’s helmet was knocked off in the collision.
Following the wreck, Lara stopped and rendered aid to Mize. The driver of the vehicle behind Mize was a nurse and they helped Mize until first responders arrived on the scene.
Mize was bleeding profusely when the ambulance arrived. He would require over a hundred stitches for the gashes on his head and neck. Mize also suffered a concussion. Police say Mize would have died in the incident if he was not wearing a helmet.
Authorities arrested Lara for causing a crash while driving without a valid license.
The exact time when the incident occurred is unclear.
