ENID, OK – A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries earlier this month in a two-vehicle collision on the southwest side of Enid, reports Enid News & Eagle.
The crash happened shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 10th, at the intersection of West Rupe Avenue and South Van Buren Street, which is just east of Meadowlake Park and northwest of Garfield County Juvenile Center.
Police say that a northbound 2017 Ford F-350 collided with a southbound 2002 Suzuki GXR motorcycle in the intersection.
It’s not yet clear what caused the accident, but the driver of the Ford told police she had stopped at the intersection to turn left on Rupe.
Medics airlifted the motorcyclist, identified as 25-year-old Jamon Wesley-Don Caleb Eakins, to an area hospital with critical injuries.
No other injuries have been reported in connection to the collision.
Officials say Eakins was observed travelling at a high rate of speed just prior to the crash.
A full investigation is underway.
