OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — Part of westbound Airport Road in southwest Oklahoma City was closed Wednesday morning after a semi-truck caught fire, according to FOX 25.
The incident occurred on the westbound lanes near South MacArthur Boulevard. Officials with the Oklahoma City Fire Department said the driver of the semi first observed his brakes smoking at about 6:30 a.m.
After pulling the semi over, the driver was able to exit the vehicle and disconnect the cab from the trailer as the flames began to cover the wheels.
Fire crews confirmed the driver was not injured in the event, but the trailer, which held containers of ranch dressing, was a total loss.
A section of westbound Airport Road was closed as crews worked to clear the scene.
It remains unclear what caused the fire.
