Driver and passenger killed in crash after police pursuit identified

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK. – Two people who died in a crash after a police pursuit on April 29th in Creek County have been identified by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The driver of the vehicle has been identified as 33-year-old Joshua Kyle Priest, of Bowlegs, and his passenger was 30-year-old Nicole Ann Stephens, of Oklahoma City. The pair were driving westbound on the Turner Turnpike when they were stopped by an OHP officer for a speeding violation.

As the officer approached Priest’s vehicle, he sped away, attempting to escape on country roads when another officer attempted a tactical intervention. Priest’s car left the roadway, hit a bridge, rolled down an embankment, and caught fire, according to ABC 8 Tulsa. The pursuit lasted fifteen minutes until the couple’s vehicle crashed. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
