A driver was seriously injured after crashing his car while being pursued by police, a February 14 article of Tulsa World reported.
The pursuit started around 8:00 PM Thursday. Tulsa police found a stolen 2007 Ford Focus at the Red Ford Inn in 35 N. Sheridan Road. In response, the driver evaded the police by speeding through city streets and into the Broken Arrow Expressway at Garnett Road. Eventually a TPD Air Support unit took over the pursuit near the entrance to the Muskogee Turnpike and followed the suspect east to US 69. The vehicle drove through Muskogee then went northbound toward Wagoner. Then, an OHP trooper performed a tactical vehicle intervention as the pursuit approached Baker Road. The Ford Focus then ran off the highway and rolled twice before coming to a rest on its top. Finally, the pursuit ended 6 miles south of Wagoner.
The suspect was identified as a 49-year-old man and was found severely injured. Then, he was flown to Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa to get treatment. Authorities are investigating the incident further.
