Driver near Tahlequah crashes into group of trees, dies

TAHLEQUAH, OK – A man died Monday morning after crashing into some trees, reports Muskogee Phoenix.
At around 12:30 a.m. Billy Tidwell, 75, was driving Nissan Versa south on 545 Rd, near Tahlequah, when he missed a curve, strayed off the road, and into a group of trees. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Tidwell was pinned down by the group of trees he slammed into for an unknown amount of time. He was eventually freed from the trees by emergency crews and hospitalized at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa. He died there from his injuries at 9:17 a.m.
