CADDO COUNTY, OK – An Edmond man drowned after attempting to save a child in distress at Fort Cobb Lake on Wednesday, according to a report by KOCO.
The victim is 42-year-old Casey Satterlee, who jumped off a boat and into the lake to rescue an 8-year-old boy who had fallen from a floatie and into the water.
The boat drifted away from the boy and from Satterlee due to wind conditions, prompting another child on the boat, aged 12, to call 911.
Satterlee was discovered in the water near Bird Island and was taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead.
The 8-year-old boy was able to swim to safety and was not injured.
