SAPULPA, OK – Failing to yield was a contributing factor behind a collision that killed a 61-year-old Sapulpa man on Tuesday, Fox23 said.
The crash occurred at the intersection of West 161st Street South and South Hickory Street. A driver stopped at the intersection but failed to yield to a vehicle driven by a 61-year-old man. As a result, the 61-year-old man’s vehicle crashed into the driver’s side of the failing-to-yield vehicle.
One of the vehicles then struck the mirror of a third vehicle. Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirmed the driver of the third vehicle was making a turn when the crash unfolded.
The 61-year-old man was thrown from his vehicle and succumbed to his injuries at the scene, Creek County EMS said.
The victim has since been identified as Robin Quinnelly. Quinnelly was a former dispatcher for the Sapulpa Police Department.
Quinnelly’s passenger and the driver who failed to yield were both injured. The passenger was sent to St. John, and the surviving driver to St. Francis.
The occupants of the third vehicle were uninjured.
