Fatality reported in CMV crash on I-40 EB at US-177

SHAWNEE, OK – At least one person died Thursday from injuries sustained in a major wreck along the interstate in Pottawatomie County, reports KOCO News 5.
The accident occurred sometime before 6:45 p.m. on the eastbound side of I-40 at US-177 in far northwest Shawnee, which is about 40 miles southeast of Oklahoma City.
Police haven’t yet disclosed the cause of the collision. They say that a commercial motor vehicle was involved.
A fatality has been reported in connection to the crash, but authorities haven’t yet identified the victim, nor have they clarified if there were additional injuries.
Officials closed the eastbound side of the highway in the area of the accident while emergency crews worked at the scene.
