Fiery solo collision near NW Expwy and May Ave injures 1

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – One person sustained injuries on Sunday night in a single-vehicle crash near Penn State Mall.

According to KOCO News 5, the incident happened around 8:55 p.m. in the area of Northwest Expressway and North May Avenue, which is near Belle Isle West.

Police say that for unknown reasons, a driver lost control and crashed into a pole along the roadway. After the impact, the vehicle caught fire.

Crews worked to extricate one person from the vehicle. Medics transported this person to a local hospital with unspecified injuries.

Authorities say that two other people exited the car and fled the scene on foot. Police apprehended one of the two people and are looking for the other.

The investigation is ongoing.
