NEAR ROSSTON, OK – Three firefighters were sent to the hospital after their fire engine truck caught on fire and overturned outside of Rosston on Tuesday.
According to KSN, the incident occurred while the firefighters from the Rosston Volunteer Fire Department were responding to the Ranger Road Fire. Preliminary details show that one firefighter had driven through thick smoke on a pasture, hindering his visibility. As a result, he lost control of the fire engine truck, which caused it to overturn and go into a burning canyon.
The driver got entrapped, and the two other firefighters, riding on the back of the vehicle, were ejected.
The male driver suffered second-degree burns to his upper body. He and the other firefighters were transported to the emergency room via an ambulance.
The Ranger Road Fire is affecting Beaver and Harper Counties in Oklahoma and Meade, Clark, and Comanche Counties in Kansas. Data showed that 283,283 acres were burned. The source said 20% has been contained.
