Gas line explosion sparkes fire in Piedmont

PIEDMONT, OK – Fire and emergency services in Piedmont responded to a large fire resulting from a gas line explosion early Thursday morning.
According to KFOR, the explosion occurred near Northwest 248th Street and Piedmont Road. Witnesses say an orange glow from the fire could be seen several miles away.
The pipeline was shut down immediately following the explosion. However, grass fires proceeded to burn throughout the morning. Crews worked to evacuate the area and get the blaze under control.
No injuries have been reported as a result of the explosion or fire at this time.
