Head-on crash involving semi kills Checotah man, injures teen

MUSKOGEE CO., OK – Two people died, and one person sustained injuries Sunday afternoon in a wrong-way collision along the highway in southwest Muskogee County.
According to Fox 23 News, the accident occurred on US-62 just south of West 33rd Street South. This is between Boynton and Haskell and about 40 miles southeast of Tulsa.
Police say that for unknown reasons, a southbound Jeep carrying three occupants entered the northbound side of the highway and collided head-on with a northbound 18-wheeler.
The driver of the Jeep and a juvenile passenger succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Authorities identified the driver as 32-year-old Drake Long of Checotah.
Medics transported a second passenger from the Jeep to an area hospital with unknown injuries.
The truck driver did not sustain injuries in the crash.
