STILLWATER, OK – Authorities located the body of a kayaker in Stillwater Friday morning, about twelve hours after he had gone missing Thursday night.
According to KFOR, the victim, Blake McSparrin, was reported missing at 9:40 p.m. Thursday night when emergency dispatchers received a notice of floating fishing gear and an upturned kayak in Boomer Lake.
Despite using a helicopter, drone, boat, and multiple agencies, officials had to call off the search at about 11 p.m. due to dark conditions.
A team of divers was brought in to help with the search the following morning.
McSparrin was located at about 9:30 a.m., about 130 feet from where the kayak had been found.
The report does not make it clear what caused McSparrin’s kayak to overturn.
