Man dead after altercation in Oklahoma County Jail

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – A man died Thursday at 2:40 p.m. after Oklahoma County Jail personnel used force to restrain him him, according to KFOR.

Oklahoma City officers arrested 56-year-old Olain Jefferson, Jr. after he assaulted medical personnel at the Southwest Medical Center.

Olain was taken to Oklahoma County Jail, where he was involved in an altercation with officers.

Jefferson is reported to have suffered some type of medical event during the scuffle. Authorities say that only “minor force” was administered, but Jefferson was rushed to a nearby hospital as the result of the injuries he sustained, where he was pronounced dead.

The Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s office will determine the cause of Jefferson’s death.
