MIDWEST CITY, OK – A man was killed Saturday afternoon after being struck by a box truck while cutting the grass in his front yard.

According to KOCO, the incident occurred around 1:00 p.m. within the 1300 block of Red Oak Drive. Police say the truck left the roadway after the driver became distracted and collided with a mailbox, then traveled into 59-year-old James Johnson’s front yard.

The truck fatally struck Johnson before crashing into another neighbor’s house and finally coming to a stop.

The driver was transported to the hospital for a toxicology test. The results have not yet been released. No charges have been filed as of Tuesday afternoon.
