Motorcyclist dead in Stephens County accident

Five motorcycles and one vehicle were involved in an accident that resulted in one death and several injuries, KOCO reported on April 13.

The accident occurred in Stephens County when 12 motorcycles were traveling south on U.S. 81. A GMC Denali heading north became entangled in a wreck with five of the motorcycles near Paul Road at around 11:30 p.m.

Authorities identified the fatality as Duncan resident Monty Howell, 53, who reportedly died at the accident scene. Several fellow motorcyclists sustained critical injuries in the crash, and five were taken to a local hospital for treatment. The vehicle driver, whose name was withheld, did not suffer injuries.

Authorities did not release any details about how exactly the motorcycle accident occurred. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers are currently investigating the details surrounding the fatal wreck.
