NTSB to Discuss Fatal OK Turnpike Crash

The National Transportation Safety Board will hold a meeting to discuss an Oklahoma trucking accident that killed 10 people on a northeastern turnpike.
According to officials with the NTSB, the meeting is set for Tuesday in Washington, D.C. after which a summary of the board’s final report on the June 26, 2009 accident will be issued. Court documents show 77 year-old Donald L. Creed, of Willard, Mo., pleaded guilty last month to 10 counts of negligent homicide as part of a plea deal. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail and 10 years probation and barred from possessing a commercial driver’s license.
According to the Oklahoma Police Department, Creed was driving a tractor-trailer for Associated Wholesale Grocers when the truck collided with vehicles that had stopped for another accident on the Will Rogers Turnpike. The crash killed four people from Oklahoma City; three from Frisco, Texas; one from Crossroads, Texas, and two people from Phoenix, Arizona.
