OKC PD investigates fatal crash on I-44 near SW 149th

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – A major crash along the interstate in southwest Oklahoma City killed one person over the weekend, reports News on 6.

The accident happened Sunday night in the area of I-44 and Southwest 149th Street, which is just north of the I-44 Speedway OKC and south of South Lakes Park.

Police aren’t yet sure what caused the collision, which they say appeared to involved only one vehicle. A preliminary investigation indicates that the driver likely lost control of her vehicle and crashed after hitting debris in the roadway.

Medics transported the female driver to an area hospital, where she died not longer after.

The collision likely caused delays along I-44 while emergency teams gathered evidence and worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
