OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – A man was struck and killed while loading his broken-down truck onto a towing vehicle in Comanche County Wednesday morning.

Bernardo Martinez, 41, was struck and killed when a  Santa Fe woman veered off of interstate 44 near Fletcher just after midnight, according to KFOR.

Karen Cole, 40, lost control of her vehicle, first hitting Martinez, then his truck and the tow truck before colliding with a concrete barrier. She was taken to a local hospital in critical condition where she remains as of Thursday evening.

Officials are investigating what may have caused Cole to drive off of the roadway and hit the man.
