Passenger Injured After Pickup Ran Stop Sign

A passenger was injured after a pickup truck crashed into the vehicle she was riding, a February 27 article of The Norman Transcript reported.

The accident took place at South 19th Street and the Interstate 35 northbound off-ramp on February 26. 32-year-old Jose Chavez, Jr. ran a stop sign on his 2013 GMC Sierra pickup and collided with the vehicle Julie Herring was on. She was taken to OU Medical Center with a spinal fracture, broken ribs, ruptured spleen, and a broken arm. Also, Chevez, Jr. was booked in F. Dewayne Beggs Detention Center due to DUI and causing bodily harm to a passenger.
