Pedestrian in wheelchair fatally hit by driver near NW Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — One person died Monday morning after being struck by a pickup truck while in a motorized wheelchair near northwest Oklahoma City, reports KFOR.

The fatal incident took place near Northwest 63rd Street and Portland Avenue, in the Highland Hills area. First responders were called to the scene at around 9:30 a.m.

It was not immediately clear what led up to the crash, but authorities said the victim in the wheelchair suffered critical injuries. The patient was rushed to a local hospital where they were later pronounced deceased.

At this time, no arrests or pending charges have been reported.

An investigation remains in progress.
