Police arrest 17-year-old driver after cyclist is killed in deadly hit-and-run crash

TULSA, OK. – A 17-year-old was arrested by Okmulgee police after a deadly hit-and-run crash on Wednesday. The crash occurred at the intersection of East Kennedy and North Osage in Okmulgee at around 8:30 p.m.
The victim was identified as 60-year-old John Perryman. He was discovered lying in the roadway, and it was clear that he had been struck by a vehicle while he was riding his bicycle. The driver who hit Perryman had fled the scene. Perryman was pronounced dead a short time later at a local hospital.
Police were called to a nearby apartment complex at 11:30 p.m. by one of the relatives of the driver. The driver, a 17-year-old girl, informed her family of the crash and they contacted the authorities. She was taken into custody shortly thereafter and remains in a juvenile detention center.
