Police identify victims of Tuesday crash at Norman intersection

NORMAN, OK – Authorities have publicly identified the two men killed in a rear-end collision at a central Norman intersection early Tuesday morning.
KOCO 5 reports that 34-year-old Ahmed Elkhatib and 30-year-old David Reynosa died after Reynosa’s eastbound vehicle rear-ended Elkhatib’s car at a red-light.
Elkhatib’s vehicle travelled across the intersection and caught fire after hitting a pole and overturning. Both Elkhatib and Reynosa died at the scene of the accident.
The fatal crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of Robinson Street and Flood Avenue near the Old Silk Stocking neighborhood.
Police have not shared any further details regarding what might have caused Reynosa to crash into Elkhatib’s vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing.
