Remembrance ceremony takes place in Oklahoma City

Yesterday was the 17th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing. On April 19, 1995, Timothy McVeigh set off a bomb inside the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building killing 168 people.
The bombing shook the state of Oklahoma, and fear for safety was felt by people all over the state. The Oklahoma City Memorial Building was erected as a tribute to the innocent victims of the bombing. Each year on April 19th at 9:02 a.m. the city observes 168 seconds of silence to honor the victims.
The 17th annual Remembrance Ceremony took place yesterday at the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum. People gathered at the building to distribute flowers to the memorial site, where a chair for each victim is sprawled out across a lawn. Timothy McVeigh was convicted of the bombing, and was executed in 2001.
