Oklahoma City Public Schools recently started their new, longer winter break. On Friday, students at public schools in the city were released for a 4-week long winter break. A new semester will begin on January 4.
The school district decided to change their schedule to include longer breaks throughout the school year and a shorter summer vacation in an attempt to improve student performance. Before Thanksgiving, Oklahoma City students had a new, two-week long fall break in October.
Within the breaks, the district is providing 3-day long optional, intersession classes. In October, about 4,300 students in the district attended the classes to catch up. Afterwards, teachers said the students left feeling better and more relaxed about their school work. Winter break intersession classes began this Monday.
The Oklahoma personal injury lawyers of the Abel Law Firm want to wish all a very happy winter break and holiday season. NewsOK has more information on Oklahoma City Public Schools’ winter break.
