GUTHRIE, OK – A truck driver died Sunday morning in a two-vehicle collision along the interstate in south-central Logan County, reports KOCO News 5.

The accident happened just after 9 a.m. on the northbound side of I-35, which runs from north to south on the far-east side of Guthrie. Authorities have not yet provided a cross street or mile marker for the wreck.

Police say that the victim’s northbound semi-truck struck a truck that was parked on the shoulder of I-35. The parked vehicle was unoccupied when the collision occurred.

The driver of the semi-truck sustained fatal injuries. Authorities identified him as 70-year-old David Irving Smith.

Officials closed the interstate until around 11:30 a.m. while emergency teams worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
