Semi vs. pickup crash at US-283 and U2-270 near Laverne kills 1

HARPER CO., OK – A 76-year-old man sustained fatal injuries Monday night in a two-vehicle accident involving an 18-wheeler near Laverne, reports 96.5 KECO.

The incident happened at 11:31 p.m. at the intersection of US-283 and US-270 between Slapout and May.

Police say that a westbound 2024 Freightliner semi-truck struck a northbound 2008 Ford F-250 when the driver of the latter vehicle ran a stop sign.

The driver of the pickup truck died after transport to a local hospital. Authorities have not yet released his name to the public.

The truck driver did not sustain injuries in the collision.

A full investigation is underway.
