Solo crash near SW 148th and I-44 kills 1 in south OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – One person died Thursday after losing control of his vehicle and crashing along the interstate just north of Newcastle.

According to KFOR News 4,the incident happened around 9:40 p.m. in the area of SW 148th Street and I-44, which is just north of the I-44 Speedway OKC.

The investigation thus far indicates that the man hit a pole after leaving the roadway and that the pole impaled him. The man died at the scene of the crash. Authorities have not yet released his identity to the public.

Police continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
