Suspected drunk driver punches officer after trying to escape

On June 24, Oklahoma City police responded to an accident near Oklahoma and Sheridan. When they arrived at the scene, a 23-year-old female, a supposed driver of one of the vehicles, was seen fleeing the area.

A police officer chased after the woman, and, upon apprehending her, was punched in the face by the alleged drunk driver as she was trying to evade arrest. The officer was able to put handcuffs on the woman, and she smelt strongly of alcohol.

The woman was booked at the Oklahoma County jail. She was charged with driving under the influence, assaulting a police officer, and fleeing the scene of a car accident.
