Teen, 17, charged with DUI after deadly collision in OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – A 17-year-old teenager was charged with DUI after a deadly collision in Oklahoma City last Thursday, Sept. 10.

OKCFOX said the teenager was arrested and charged with manslaughter and leaving the scene of a fatal crash. Oklahoma City police said the incident happened on the 3600th block of Southwest 3rd Street.

Police said the teenager was traveling north on the road and filming a video when they crashed their pickup truck into a 22-year-old woman believed to be riding a scooter.

Police said the young driver called their mother, saying they believed they struck a deer and wanted her to inspect the damage. The teenage driver came to their mother’s work place who inspected the vehicle for damage and called 911.

Upon arrival, first responders found the 22-year-old woman, later identified as Ranesha Scyrus, on the bed of the pickup truck. Medics treated her for her injuries, but she unfortunately succumbed to them.

The teenage driver’s bond has been set at $100,000.
